Hi. There are a number of things going on in the Baseball Graphs site; this is where I get to express myself every once in a while.

As you've probably guessed, I like to talk about baseball and I like to draw graphs. And I also like to play with numbers, such as Bill James' Win Shares.

See, Win Shares is an "open source" statistic, sort of like Linux is an open source operating system. In his book, Bill James detailed the exact Win Shares methodology, allowing those of us who follow to replicate his calculations, and potentially improve the system. I'm sick enough to find that fun.

I'll post occasional articles, researching some of the more detailed aspects of Win Shares, as well as other baseball and even personal topics. Please drop by once in a while.

Most of the entries included here will assume that you have a working knowledge of how Win Shares works. If you'd like to better understand the Win Shares methodology, I strongly suggest you buy the book.
